What Is Night to Shine?

Night to Shine began in 2015 as a simple idea to celebrate the Tim Tebow Foundation's 5th anniversary, and has since grown into a worldwide movement celebrating over 100,000 people with special needs annually. It is a prom night experience centered on God's love, honoring people with special needs and reminding them — and the world — of their infinite worth and dignity. 

Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience for people aged 14 and older with special needs. It is a night where every single guest is treated as royalty, because that's exactly what they are.

Night to Shine at FCCHB is "Under the stars"

First Christian Church of Huntington Beach is proud to bring this incredible evening to our community on Saturday, April 18th.   Each host church is responsible for planning and hosting their own local expression.  FCCHB's 2026 event is called "Under the Stars".   Our prayer is that this night becomes a shining reflection of the love and grace that defines who we are as a church.

What to Expect Throughout the Night

Red Carpet Arrival — Every honored guest arrives as a VIP, walking the red carpet and being cheered on by volunteers and spectators who are there for one reason: to celebrate them.

Dance the Night Away — The heart of the evening is the dance floor, where guests are paired with dedicated

Dance Buddy Companions — trained volunteers who stay by their side throughout the entire night, ensuring every guest feels included, celebrated, and never alone.

Activity Room — Guests can also visit the Activity Room, where they can sing Karaoke, play some ping pong, decorate a frame for the picture they'll receive to remember the night, and other fund activities.

Caregiver Respite — While honored guests are swept up in the magic of the evening, parents and caregivers are treated to their own special space — a chance to rest, breathe, and be reminded that their sacrifice and love are seen and deeply appreciated.

A Night Crowned in Love — Every honored guest is crowned a king or queen, because our job isn't done until all are celebrated, until all are loved, and until all know their true identity as God's royalty. 

Get Involved AS A DANCE BUDDY COMPANION 

We are looking for compassionate individuals to serve as companions for guests with disabilities or special needs during the event.

Each Buddy will be paired with an assigned guest to provide support, companionship, and guidance throughout the evening.

Dance Buddy Responsibilities:

• Serve as a companion for an assigned guest.
• Assist guests throughout the event, including navigating the venue, helping with meals, visiting restrooms, and other needs, and of course, being their dance buddy on the dance floor.
• Offer emotional support and engage guests in conversation and activities.
• Ensure guests feel safe, included, and enjoy the evening.

Requirements:

• Volunteers must be 16 years or older.
• Compassion, patience, and a friendly attitude are essential.
• Complete an application, participate in an interview, and watch all required training videos.
• Volunteers 18+ must complete a background check.

Attire:  Please dress in semi-formal, prom, or cocktail party attire.  You’re escorting a guest to a dance...dress to impress.
